Harry, hair, and Hallowe'en.
I've just got in from playing Quidditch with Harry, Ron, and Soblessa! Professor Black gave Harry his permission for us to use the balls and pitch while no one was practising. We just ended up playing without Bludgers, cos Ron was worried one of us would be hit with one, so we just played as Chasers, trying to put the Quaffles through the hoops as much as possible. Soblessa had never played before, and I'd never played on a real pitch, just in the backyard a few times with Ron and the twins when they needed an extra person to be Chaser, so it we were kind of slow and goofy-feeling starting off (especially cos Ron and Harry are on the team and they're really good players).
It was really fun, except Ron was hanging on the end of my broom half the time because he was really sure I was going to fall off, and Harry seemed to be kind of out of it, because I tried to throw him the Quaffle a lot of times when he was nearer to the goal than I was, but he kept dropping it or missing it or not seeing me throw it altogether, and Ron would go diving for it and score. At first I thought it was because I don't throw very far, but I don't think I'm that bad... but anyway, they showed us how to fly properly with no hands so we could let go of the broom to catch the Quaffle (they're too big for me to catch one-handed and not drop) and how to pass correctly. (But I guess I'm not very good at that, cos Harry didn't catch my passes very often. I reckon maybe he was tired from the detention he had to do, but Ron did it as well and he played fine.) So, Soblessa and Ron won; Soblessa is fearless and flies a lot higher and faster than I do, and that does come in handy during a game of Quidditch. I would have liked to go higher except I didn't want to go too far from Ron and Harry, and Ron kept saying, "Where are you going so fast?!" so I got the idea he thought I was going to crash into the goal posts or something, because sometimes I have trouble stopping.
It was really quite fun for me to be on Harry's team, because I've watched him play so much and I know he is a really good flier, but I'm not sure he had any fun. He smiled a couple of times, and put the Quaffle through the hoops, but he didn't really seem to be there. I hope everything's okay.
So, I owe Soblessa a victory butterbeer next Hogsmeade weekend.
On Friday evening I spent some time with Hermione in her room. I French-braided her hair while she went through some vanity spells that Lavender Brown and Parvati Patil let us borrow, but we had trouble finding some that weren't, well... er... complex. I mean to say... ones that weren't very attention-getting. We eventually found a few charms we liked, but neither of us wanted, er, rainbow lips and gigantic orange stars on our faces. Which is lovely, but not very us. Hermione had a bit of a time deciding whether she actually wanted to do any of them or not, thought they were all a bit, well, ugly. Hermione settled for a rather dangerous Every-Flavour-Flavoured lip shine (she got tripe at first, ergh, but found an acceptable pumpkin flavour after a few more gos), which is not very outrageous at all, and then I tried to charm my hair black -- because, well, it would just be nice to have lovely dark hair like Soblessa and not hair that people laugh at because it's so bright and, er, red. It worked for about a minute, but then it turned a foul shade of violet, and Hermione had to undo the charm for me. At first, she wouldn't, because she thought it had been a bad idea in the first place and told me I shouldn't use such an unreliable spell, but I begged and she relented. I promise I'll never be ungrateful for my hair colour again!
When we went down to have a game of chess with Ron after that, he seemed to like how Hermione, looked, though, so I'll consider all our trials and errors a success. :D And while we were talking about some of the interesting robes in the magazines, I got an idea about what I want to be for the Hallowe'en ball! I can't wait!

Ginny, you did really great, and Soblessa did too. I'm really sorry. It's my fault we lost, I guess I had alot on my mind and I just wasn't doing very good at paying attention. I guess I was just in a bad mood today. We can challenge them to a re-match, if you'd like. I promise I'll even remember to catch the Quaffle.

Oh... thanks, Harry. :) It's okay, I didn't mind losing, I just thought you weren't having any fun so I felt bad for making you be there. I'm sorry you were in a bad mood. I would like to play again sometime, if you would. :)

Now that you did so good at beating me and Ron at Scrabble, I don't feel as bad. I was having fun, I just wish I could've paid more attention to the game.

Next time YOU are playing on my team! I think Harry needs Soblessa on his team to keep him awake, that girl reminds me of Pig! We can have a Weasleys vs Non-Weasleys match! ;) But we're not wearing our sweaters to play, don't even think about it!
just_harry @ 2002-10-20 07:56 pm UTC |
Oh, I don't know Ron, I think the sweaters would be a nice touch.

We already match anyway, what with our hair and all! The sweaters would have been funny, though... ;)

And matching freckles! I don't really fancy having my name plastered on my chest 400feet high up in the air for the world to see!

It was actually quite fun! We should do that again sometime. Perhaps your mum has some more... tame vanity spells we could try?
...and do you really think Ron liked my hair?

When I owl her tomorrow, I'll be sure and ask! I reckon she's got something we can use! :)
