Hello! I have returned from holiday. I had a marvellous time. We visited the Pinnawela elephant orphanage in Kegalla while staying in Sri Lanka. We were fortunate enough to see them bathing the elephants in the river Maha Oya, which I had been told was a sight that one must see. It was astonishingly peaceful at the orphanage. Elephants are rather majestic creatures.
In Phuket we visited the Four Faced Buddha. I must say that it was quite an experience. I am not a particularly religious man and do in fact consider myself agnostic, but I find learning about various religions to be interesting and inspirational. I found myself uncomfortable as I knelt while the dancers chanted my name. It made me feel rather self-conscious, though I do not believe that people were actually staring at me. Still, it was all fascinating.
I am surprised that Muggles are unable to notice some of the things that wizards see as clear as day. For instance, none of the Muggles visiting the temple seemed aware that the entrance to the Thai Ministry of Magic was beyond the flowers, nor did they seem to notice when we entered.
The Thai Ministry of Magic, while certainly not as large as ours, was a fascinating visit. We were unable to meet the Minister, unfortunately, but I could have spent weeks going over the comparisons between the two. I shall be certain to write a detailed report for Minister Fudge.
We returned to London yesterday afternoon and I shall resume work at the Ministry tomorrow. I have moved out of Stetrick-on-Gaft, and you will now find me within London.
An associate of mine at the Ministry, Mrs Weasley, has put together a photograph album from last weekend. I would also like to thank everyone who took the time to sign our guestbook while in attendance. It seemed possible that the day would serve as a painful reminder of people who ought to have been there, but we were able to look past that. For that, I am eternally grateful.
