Do you honestly believe that they would have had the same reaction had he ever brought me home? (Which he didn't, by the way, at least not when we were dating.) You do remember what they've put him through over the past year, don't you?

Oh, I tried. Believe me, I tried. And yes, thank you, you were ever so much help.
But you're right, of course; this relationship has a beautiful future. So many have done it before it's practically a tradition. You go off, have a million of his little babies, make his parents very, very happy.
Just don't ask him where he goes at night because trust me, you really won't want to know. Besides, I'm sure he'll feel guilty enough to buy you a lot of pretty, shiny, expensive things, so there you go! Both getting what you want. I'm very happy for you.
