Current mood:enraged

Speaking of extraordinary days, I expect I should update about the two I've just had.

Sally-Anne decided to get Miranda Mulligan (Slytherin, seventh year, Pureblood) and the two of them teamed up against me and forced me out of the castle via an obscure underground route. Of course, it was storming, so we ended up back inside the castle anyway. Sally decided to have the house-elves fetch me some biscuits after the horrible way I've been treated lately, though Miranda decided the best way to deal with this would be to sew all of the sleeves of my robes shut. Actually, Miranda Mulligan prefers to go by M. M., so I suppose I should be calling her that instead.

The pair of them evidently thought it would be quite funny to litter my new living quarters with banana peels, so now the entire place reeks of bananas. Of course, I'm only staying here temporarily, until it's noticeably safe for me to be in the rest of the castle without being slaughtered by overreacting Ravenclaws who are furious at having their detention-free records besmirched. You'd think the professors could institute some sort of protection for students unfairly accused this way, but of course, as always, I'm left to fend for myself. With the scent of bananas. I'm allergic to bananas. M. M. apparently isn't, though, considering the atrocity that is her body mass index.

Sally keeps calling me 'darling', which of course is beginning to weigh on my nerves, but I can hardly help it if women feel predisposed to call me 'darling' at all times, particularly while serving me baked goods. Unfortunately, M. M. decided it would be best for all if she ate all of the biscuits on her own, so now I'm left malnourished.

I expect everyone is falling over themselves trying to discover where I am, as I haven't been to Slytherin in two days. It seems I also missed the presence of a faux dragon in the Great Hall, which I'll be sure to cry about later. God, you'd think people in this school weren't even wizards with the way they get worked up over the stupidest things.

Falling over ourselves? Forgive me, Mr Malfoy, but were we to have noticed your absence? I can't help getting that feeling from what you've said, and yet I feel no great pain.

turpinol @ 2003-04-05 03:56 pm UTC

Actually, if it helps, Professor, I did notice the castle has been a lot nicer for the past couple of days.

Draco, dearest, honestly! I haven't even the slightest notion what to say to you.

potterstinks @ 2003-04-05 07:28 pm UTC

Well that's a problem, isn't it? Oh, I know. You could try laughing.

Darling, how can you say such things! You know I'd never laugh unless there was a perfectly good reason.

blondenarcissa @ 2003-04-05 05:18 pm UTC

Dearest Draco,

What in the name of Merlin is going on at that school of yours? Sneaking out of the castle in an undergroud route? Coming back inside only to have your robes sewn up and finding yourself surrounded with banana peelings?

I am appalled. I am upset. The way you are being forced to carry on is not the way of a Malfoy, hiding from other students and feeling sorry for oneself. What is wrong with my Little Dragon?!?!? You can tell Mummy what's wrong, darling.

Love,
Your Very Concerned Mother

potterstinks @ 2003-04-05 07:30 pm UTC

Oh, had you noticed, Mother? I apologise. I didn't mean to disturb your beauty rest.

(parent)
blondenarcissa @ 2003-04-05 07:35 pm UTC

Of course I noticed, Draco. I don't need an apology from you; you've not disturbed anything. What I need is some sort of an explanation, dear.

Love,
Mother

Draco,

Knock it off now. Suck it up, like a Malfoy.

Re:

It's about time he learned how to be a Malfoy, Narcissa. I'm tired of listening to his whinging. It's time to make a man out of him, and see that, among other things, his promise to you is fulfilled.

Lucius

blondenarcissa @ 2003-04-05 09:13 pm UTC

Perhaps he might better learn how to be a Malfoy if you gave him a better example of what to do, dear. I have seen you wave away the house elves when they bring you his post from school from time to time. I agree that he needs to further foray into becoming a man and fulfilling his promise to me but I will not stand by idly while people taunt him.

Re:

Narcissa,

You are as aware as I of the taunts that we Malfoys must endure. It is one of the curses of the aristocratic class and there will always be those of lesser status seeking to pull us down to their level. Draco must realize this and learn to rise above it all, like a true Malfoy. It is not easy to learn, and it's not easy to watch, but he needs to learn to deal with it all and come out the better man--which he will, being a Malfoy. Your concern says much about your wonderful skills as a mother, but I'm afraid that this must be Draco's fight alone. We must be strong for him and let him discover the true meaning of his heritage for himself.

Lucius

Very good, my son. Your mother and I are watching events very closely and will step in if things get out of hand, but consider this a test.

blondenarcissa @ 2003-04-05 09:29 pm UTC

Lucius,

Although I do agree with your reasoning, I cannot help but to think that he should bear some support from us. A true Malfoy puts his family above all else, does he not? If we allow him to endure 'his fight alone' what does that ultimately say for us as a familial whole? I for one would like to help him if needs be. I am his mother, after all.

Re:

I am not saying, my love, that he does not have our support. Indeed he does and he always will. However, we must stand apart and watch him fight this battle alone. Of course we shall intervene if things get out of hand, but this is a test of our Draco's fortitude.

Your concern is touching. Draco is so lucky to have a mother like you.

Lucius

You certainly made it seem that way by telling him to 'suck it up'. I do think he has had enough tests lately.

Re:

Also, dearest, note the tone in which he addressed you. Part of the "knock it off now" was regarding his cheek in his reply to you. I will not have my precious flower addressed in a disrespectful manner by anyone, especially not her son.

I was not directing that at you, Remus. Merlin knows that you wouldn't dream of being boorish like certain other people. I was addressing my husband and your fiancé.

What was it we said earlier? 'Difficult'?
