Current mood:enraged

Of course, I'm not actually going to do it.

As you may or may not know, Chudley cannot keep a Seeker this season. So far Cadwallader, Pickle, Waydt and Hight have each been injured in game, so much so that they've been put out for the season. Cadwallader, of course, was put out by the fantastic Falmouth Falcons. If you follow Quidditch Weekly, you'll have noticed that the Cannons seem to have an audition for Seeker at each weekend, seeing as they lose them so often.

Since last weekend was a Hogsmeade weekend, I acquired a pass from Professor Flitwick to go to Chudley. Viktor Krum was still in Durmstrang when he played for Bulgaria, so there's absolutely no reason that I, a Hogwarts student, shouldn't be able to play professional Quidditch while still in school as well. Of course, I didn't want to create a fuss, which is why I asked Flitwick rather than Professor Snape. Naturally I didn't want the entire castle to catch wind of it, as I don't like to receive attention for my accomplishments.

It was a cold and snowy Saturday, as you might remember, it being only a week ago. Chudley is a dismal town, which made the weather seem even worse than it was, but surprisingly enough they keep the pitch fairly clean there. I'd considered going incognito, you know, so they wouldn't hire me on the spot, but evidently Chudley isn't cultured enough to know who My Father is. Anyway, the assortment of 'people', if you could call them that, who were trying out were abominable. I actually think I spotted a hag, which comes as no surprise when you consider the variety of people who follow the Cannons.

They were, of course, quite impressed with my application, so my try-outs were fairly early on in the day. Unfortunately, that meant I was left to watch the other imbeciles trying out, though it was rather obvious that I was going to be the one chosen. In fact, Jenkins seemed rather taken with my Quidditch abilities.

As I was sitting in the stands, feigning interest in the other Seekers, Jenkins sat next to me. Jenkins, while not the most brilliant player in the British and Irish league, is likely the only famous player to come out of Chudley, short of Maloney, and we all know he soon tired of being on such a poor team.

'You are the most excellent Seeker I have ever had the privilege of watching,' said Jenkins, and of course he was looking at me with some sort of admiration. 'In fact, I think the Cannons could operate on your ability alone. Would you please honour us with your presence? I am, in fact, aware that you are just seventeen, which is of course quite miraculous, Draco Malfoy, but if I perhaps offered you some money, would you consider gracing us with your abilities? You are clearly a prodigy and I am not quite certain why you were not the youngest Seeker in a century.'

'I could not take money from the poor,' insisted I, the giver. 'You realise that if I took the money Minister Fudge offers me each time he asks for my advice, the man would simply be in rags by now.'

'Yes, yes. And since I am a Cannon obviously I am poor. It's most inconvenient. Actually, that's why we wear these orange robes. We can't afford dye, so we just soak them in pumpkin juice.'

As is the case with most Malfoys, I've never been quite comfortable discussing the financial difficulties of others, since I do of course feel so very sympathetic, but you know how the poor are. Once they start talking about money they just won't shut up. Eventually I had to leave, though I did sign an autograph for Jenkins before I left.

In any case, we were told we would hear from them this week, but it was evident that I would be the only one on the receiving end of good news. As you can see, the Cannons are simply dying to have me as their Seeker, but I'm afraid I haven't the time.

Actually, I never intended to play for the Cannons. Why would I play for such a shoddy team? If I were to play professional Quidditch, I'd prefer to start my own team. It does get terribly boring at Hogwarts in the weekends, though, so I thought I'd find something to do with my time. I do hope the Cannons don't keep sending me invitations in the post. That would just be embarrassing. I'm afraid they'll have to learn that no means no.

Turning down offers for professional Quidditch team positions is just another dreary task in an average day in the life of me. I suppose it sounds exciting to some, but when you're a Malfoy, you get used to things like this.

potterstinks @ 2003-11-21 07:13 pm UTC

How was I supposed to know that Potter didn't know? He follows the Cannons, so I can't see why he wouldn't have known they were looking for a Seeker repeatedly. Perhaps he just didn't want to try out, had you thought of that?

knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-21 07:29 pm UTC

Because Harry was a Seeker before you ever were and he would TRY OUT FOR HIS FAVOURITE TEAM you slime! You weren't even a Seeker until Harry was and NOW! NOW, YOU TRAITOR! You found out the Cannons were having try outs and you WENT AND TRIED OUT INSTEAD OF TELLING HARRY TO

I TOLD YOU YOU WERE A LIAR WHEN YOU SAID THAT BEFORE!!!

What?! No! APOLOGISE TO HARRY! DO IT NOW!

potterstinks @ 2003-11-21 10:40 pm UTC

I was being sarcastic. Apologise for what?

knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-21 10:47 pm UTC

YOU KNOW WHAT FOR!

potterstinks @ 2003-11-21 10:56 pm UTC

Oh, so it's this again, is it?

This is getting rather redundant. I'm not going to sit through another one of your little 'you know what I'm talking about' sessions. Let's just say you're beyond understanding anything I say and have done with it.

knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-21 11:13 pm UTC

Then just admit YOU are a SHITTY WHATEVER and have done with it yourself!

I am nothing of the sort. You, on the other hand, are bordering on death.

knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-21 11:25 pm UTC

Yes you are! Look will you

DAMNIT ARE YOU IN THE LIBRARY.

(parent)
potterstinks @ 2003-11-21 11:29 pm UTC

That all depends. Are you in the library?

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-21 11:30 pm UTC

Yeah but some idiot piled a bunch of books on top of the monitor and I can't see over it.

(parent)
potterstinks @ 2003-11-21 11:32 pm UTC

Then no, as a matter of fact, I'm not.

(parent)
knight_to_h3 @ 2003-11-21 11:36 pm UTC

Well look what kind of jerk goes and tries out for someone else's favourite team to show off when the someone else is that someone else and someone is A REALLY BAD SOMEONE to someone else for doing it and doesn't even apologise!
