Current mood:annoyed

I am in London for the day, and it looks as if my business will, sadly, keep me here for another day until we go on our family trip to the Riviera. However, I do so enjoy staying at the Ritz and entertaining guests.

Narcissa has been reading, I see. I, too, am reading a most interesting story. A man recieves a very strange artifact (a monkey's paw). He is told that he can wish on said object three times and it will grant his wish. He and wife therefore wish for a large sum of money. Their son is killed in an accident and they do indeed receive said money--it's a compensation for the death of their son. The wife, distraught with grief, uses the object to wish their son back. The husband, realizing the curse, uses the paw to wish back the horror his wife has unleashed from the grave. However, as every wish from the monkey's paw is cursed, have they indeed? Can they ever truly be rid of the spectre of those they once loved dear?
The moral should be self-evident to a woman of Narcissa's considerable intelligence.

It is extremely difficult to accept parables of morality from a man completely bereft of it.

Yes, Severus, I'm sure you know all about morality. How is dear Remus faring? I understand you've been a pillar of strength to him in this time of woe.

How is it that you can make even the most innocuous thing into something sordid and tainted, you lecherous twat?

Might I ask what's brought this on? No doubt you're quite content with the latest confluence of events. Remus is waiting. Why on earth are you wasting time baiting me when there's someone in dire need of your expertise with potions?

Leave Lupin out of it. He is of no concern to you.

Do I detect just a hint, underneath your cool demeanour, of defensiveness? Has Severus got a thing for the wolf? Oh, someone call the Quibbler.

One day, your foul mouth will be directed toward the wrong person, and they will shut it for you. Permanently.

Do not presume you know anything about me, Lucius. We are not schoolboys any longer.

Ask not for whom the moon waxes, Severus. Go tend to your wolf. Doubtless he's in need of services only you can provide.

It's 11pm, Lucius. Do you care where your wife is?

I am well aware of the location of my colleague. You, however, seem to have misplaced your spouse.

Who has excellent taste in literature, as of late.

Narcissa is at the Manor, Severus, as both you and I know perfectly well.

Don't you have some spying to do?

You should away, yourself, as no doubt your lips hunger for their usual location upon your superior's fundament.

I am done with you.

He asks after you on occasion. He's taken quite an interest in you and those under your tutelage, you know.

Observe his tame and placid flame; the moon's celestial highness.
There's not a trace upon her face of diffidence or shyness.
She borrows light that through the night, mankind can all acclaim her.
And, truth to tell, she lights up well, so I for one don't blame her.
Ah, pray make no mistake, we are not shy.
We really know our worth, the moon and I.
