Current mood:enraged

Growing Concerns
First of all, I'd like to thank Severus for a perfectly wonderful weekend. I always enjoy his company. I hope that your accomodations were to your liking.

I am becoming more and more concerned over the things I am hearing about Hogwarts. My plan all along had been to send Draco to Durmstrang, but Narcissa insisted that Hogwarts was so much closer and that she didn't want her dear Draco so far away. I admit I relented in this case.

I am now beginning to regret my decision.

The incident at the Three Broomsticks certainly got my attention. Only Albus Dumbledore would hire faculty members that would behave in such a fashion. Severus explained the events to me this weekend, and I am not sure I wish for Draco to be instructed by people of such low moral standing. Among Draco's instructors are a known criminal and a werewolf! I tell you, it is almost too much to bear.

I, too, am concerned about the treatment Draco is receiving at the hands of his fellow students and the house-elves. I have sent Draco his very own house-elf, to ensure that he is treated in a manner befitting a Malfoy. Again, it is indicative of Albus Dumbledore's leadership that he allows a student under his care to be treated in such a fashion.

Then I find out that Professor Sinistra found three students--not two, not four, not six, but three!--in a rather compromising situation in her Tower. Such deviant behavior cannot be tolerated. I will not stand for it. I have given much time and money to Hogwarts. Even Pansy Parkinson seems to be a bit unstable as time passes. I do not think she is worthy of my Draco.

All of this happens, and Albus Dumbledore does nothing to stop it.

Something must be done. I intend to see that it is.

Instability

Dear Mr. Malfoy,

It is a pleasure to have merited a moment of your thoughts. However, I am saddened that you cannot see the effect as a whole on the students of the recent events. You would not think me unstable were the scope the of the situation yours to see. Draco is performing admirably as a Prefect and as a Seeker. I'm so pleased to see that, in the absense of sanity among the students and staff of this school, his grades have not dropped...he's such a strong member of the House.

I'll politely ignore the comment about my worthiness and your son. He chose me, and it is my pleasure to stand by his side when he so wishes. I can only hope that you and I can come to an understanding. Draco is so dear to you that I doubt any girl will look fit in your eyes at first.

Please pass along to Mrs. Malfoy that my mother has some extraordinary potions she's been experimenting with to tame the itch of worry. Mrs. Malfoy always seems so upset, and I know that she could, as all of us could right now, use a moment of calm very well.

From Slytherin House,
Miss Pansy Parkinson

Father,

If you feel that Pansy is not capable of performing her duties in relation to my duties as a Malfoy, I will be through with her. After all, I am well-aware of the fact that you are represented by the company you keep, and if you feel this is inappropriate company, I will certainly agree with you. I await your word on this, Father, as I will respect any decision you make.

However, I am finding it rather difficult to see the silver lining in any of my fellow students at Hogwarts. I am, after all, stuck in a school filled with Hufflepuffs, Mudbloods, and odd Halfbloods who go to snogging sessions in groups of threes. You can see how this creates certain complications. Frankly, I think I probably would have had a more ideal time at Durmstrang, but there is, of course, no use in transferring me now. As I said in my previous comment to you, I am willing to endure the rest of the term here at Hogwarts. No, no need to transfer.

As for the appalling atrocities I suffered thanks to the barbaric professors here, I should hope that the Headmaster would have had more than a few words with them by now. If not, I suppose it will take a few letters from some of the more influential parents to get his gears grinding.

I, of course, would never be caught dead in the Astronomy Tower, so you needn't worry about that particular influence on me. That is just rather trashy.

Your greatest creation,
Draco.

Draco,

I have decided to let you finish out the term at Hogwarts. We will discuss our options over the break. I am becoming rather concerned, and the antics of your professors is causing me much anguish. Both your mother and myself are quite beside ourselves. Sinistra is quite unstable, and my thoughts regarding Sirius Black and Remus Lupin are unprintable.
As for Pansy Parkinson, I will allow you to use your discretion in this matter. I know that you will behave in a manner that befits a Malfoy. Her actions are being taken quite seriously by her family, and I don't need to tell you how important it is that you maintain an appearance befitting a Malfoy. I will trust you in this matter.
Please let me know immediately if the house-elf is not serving you as you require and I will take any corrective actions necessary. I am sending you a new broomstick--the Andretti 2004--to ease your mental anguish. This broomstick is still in development, and I am sending you a prototype. It is the fastest on the market, and can be customized to the individual user.
I am sure that you will do the Malfoy name proud, son.

Your father

Father,

I, for one, have always thought that Black and Lupin were unprintable in and of themselves. Professor Sinistra, I can hardly even remember what she looks like between Astronomy lessons. The only thing I can ever care to call up in my mind when she's mentioned is her unbearably hairy knees. Which are, of course, quite memorable, all things considered.

Which actions are the Parkinsons examining? Not, of course, that I am disagreeing with your judgement on the matter at all; on the contrary, I'm curious to know what has been going on that I haven't been informed of. As far as I can tell, Pansy is a girl with ... well enough intentions. Of course, I can't help having noticed her instability, and she doesn't always present herself well. Really, though, Father, if you feel this is not a good idea, I am all for ... or, rather, I will be willing to do whatever you would see me do. I am as concerned with the public image of the Malfoys as you are, of course.

The house-elf has not yet arrived, unfortunately. I suppose he's gotten a bit lost amongst the transfer, though if he's going to be that dumb, I can't see what use he'll be to me.

I think a new racing broom should do wonders on my mental anguish. I'm rather anxious for it to get here. As always, Father, you've succeeded in making Hogwarts the tiniest fraction more endurable.

Your cherished son,
Draco.

Looshie, I was not aware that you were so tightly under Narcissa's thumb. Sending your dear old son to our little school because your wife Said So? How charming...

She happens to be one of the few woman whose opinion I respect. Maybe because she knows how to be a woman. I really should let her give you a few lessons.
