A thought.
I just got a song in my head, and I have to wonder:
Why does the boy say, 'what a laugh it would have been if Daddy had only seen' in regards to finding his mother kissing Santa Claus? Would he feel the same if he found his mother kissing the drunk man who lives in the street? Why say it would be a laugh?
Conclusion: Boy must hate his father and wants to see him 'get his.'
