Current mood: sad

Little Staple's gone, and it's always hard to let go of something so precious. The wife and I got a bit carried away with things last night and let ourselves get a bit too upset about the kitten. What am I saying, she was almost a cat! Almost grown up. Almost out in the real world all by herself with no parents to tell her what to do or any of that rubbish that children never like to listen to any more.

Anyway, Fridge, Toaster, Plug and Circut were all in for milk at lunch time and I broke the news to them, Molly's still a bit upset for that but these things happen in life, don't they. I put the little thing in a shoebox, she's out in the garden now, just near the treehouse and there's a little row of rocks around the edge of the upturned earth until I can clean up a stapler to put as the headstone.

I don't know which of them if any is going to sit in the middle of the kitchen table now, or curl up in the middle of my copy of the Prophet when I'm trying to read it, or sit on my foot and meow at me while I'm having dinner until I sneak it something off my plate. I suppose one of them will, maybe.

I've been telling the wife that there's nothing we could have done, she was like that when we found her, just all little and curled up and not moving. Maybe something bit her, maybe something hit her, I don't know, but there was nothing to do except cry a bit, so that was done and life goes on.

It was not the Killing Curse, was it, Father?

Yes, Percival. It was the Killing Curse.

Was it really, Father? Mother has just contradicted this statement.

I do not know. It is not impossible. I simply thought I would check all of the possibilities.

I'm really sure someone really really badly wanted to particularly kill Staple, Percy, that must have been what happened, of course. >:O.

Well! There was no need to be sardonic.

I am very sorry, Arthur. A pet is a part of the family and to lose one hurts very much. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Thank you, Remus, very kind of you.
