Current mood: exhausted

I want to thank everyone for their condolences, to start with. I've dropped back around home briefly and there were cards and flowers and casseroles lining the footpath to the front door, as well as lots of owl droppings. All the things are inside now and I'm sorry but I've not opened any of them, probably won't for a day or a few yet.

Really it's a horrible thing to say I think but I wish everyone would just shut their mouths about things. Every new mention, every time somebody else says sorry for what happened just reminds me and the family of what did actually happen. What happened was that our lives got ripped apart and our family was broken. As a parent, you want to have your children mourn you when it's your time, when you're far too old and there's grandchildren everywhere and life is good and it's okay to go. You don't want to mourn your child getting ripped out of his life before he's even had the chance to live it.

And my beautiful son Charlie is just a shell of a person and they keep saying nothing can be done, he's not going to be the same. We've all known about these curses and what they do and the damage is irreparable but this is my son. Something has to work this time. He can't be trapped like he is forever.

I'm so tired but I can't stop to sleep. There's every chance the family will be up at Mungo's for another couple of days. It's very crowded and there are lots of red eyes. I have some arrangements and decisions I have to make that are tearing me apart, I don't know how people do this, I can't pour a tea without dropping the kettle and every time there's a loud noise it could be him up to something dangerous upstairs but it's not any more, is it.

Mr. Weasley, I don't want to burden you with words that can't be answered right now. But my Gran and I wanted to suggest you and Mrs. Weasley should ask the St. Mungo's staff for a consultation with Dr. Byatt; he's semi-retired, but he's considered the very best in the field. The St. Mungo's staff will also probably give you his book Analysing Neuro-physiological Magical Injuries if you ask; it's well-written and quite understandable for a layperson to read.

My Gran and I understand, Mr. Weasley. She said to please owl her if you get to the point that you want to talk to someone who really knows what you're going through.

But if you don't, that's all right. We understand that, too.

Thank you, young man. I appreciate your words. But nobody really knows what we are going through.
