Severus is showing his caring side.
I find it oddly sweet that he's postponing the normal curriculum for his class just to try to find a reversal to the potion he gave Remus. Unless my assumption is completely off, in which case I'll feel stupid.

Possibly, but I have to think a vain and cowardly git wouldn't openly invite people to hex him for a mistake he made.

Agreed. I got the feeling that it's more concern for his own hide than Remus's that he's getting the classes to research it.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's his hide he cares about. I think he cares about his l33t p0t10n m4k1ng 5k1llz and indeed, maybe a little bit of concern, not just his hide, or even primarily. I think his vainity is most important in this equation.
Also, are those eyes or eyebrows? Because you have a very very cool icon if they're eyebrows. Only cool if not.
