(no title)
"I find it rather amazing that Potter requested my presence in the hospital wing, given that I, the sinister prodigy, single-handedly orchestrated and performed this caper."

Is Draco admitting that he caused the "attack"?

I thought that was sarcasm, in response to Ron beating Draco up like it was his fault.

Oooh, ok. :)
oops.

That's harking back to Draco and Pansy's conversation here, dripping with sarcasm.

lunastarr @ June 27 2003, 11:33:52 UTC

Yup, that's what I figured. ^_^ I mean if Harry wanted him to come to the hospital it's pretty obvious Draco wasn't involved.. Harry probabyl knows what happened.

Sarcasm!

By the way, "For someone who has returned to the living after a six day absence, Potter is not very well." is just...too much. *laughing*

Draco's "Rumour has it that the Theobald Hufflepuff is being moved to St Mungo's for better treatment, so I suppose he won't be on the train," makes me wonder if poor Jeremy has gone the way of Mr. and Mrs. Longbottom?

And Hermione's "He's not terribly coherent yet, of course, and mostly he kept mentioning fish and . . . well, none of it made much sense, especially as he kept drifting off," seems to point to Parvati's tumbling rocks and fish dream. Anyone have a dream dictionary? None of the stuff I've found online makes any sense.

(parent)

fourscore @ June 27 2003, 11:55:01 UTC

St. Mungo's is just a hospital, though, it's not specifically for mental cases.

(parent)

tabiji @ June 27 2003, 12:00:21 UTC

That's true, but Jeremy had regained consciousness, and is only listed in "stable" condition, and was supposed to be released by Monday. I'm wondering why they would need to send him there when there are others with more serious conditions?

(parent)

la_trix @ June 27 2003, 14:00:31 UTC

Seamus has updated the injured list to reflect Jeremy's condition ... it looks pretty bad. Another Hufflepuff casualty?

This is tangental, but I love the fact that Franklin Pierce is one of their students.

!!!!! Do you get the reference?! It's not really a reference I suppose, but.

Haha, sorry, I am just very excited. I didn't expect anyone to get it, let alone like it.

well, if anyone's gonna get something like that it's gonna be notapipe, isn't it? ;)

Well it's not obscure at all, just not popular amongst the Youth so much anymore.

(parent)

notapipe @ June 27 2003, 15:35:10 UTC

Er... if it's something other than the FPOTUS... no. If it IS the FPOTUS, yes.

(parent)

Anonymous @ June 27 2003, 15:43:04 UTC

Alas, I have no idea what the FPOTUS is. So it was not that. I remain the sole little engine that could. Actually I don't think anyone in NA gets what it refers to but me, so that is okay.

(parent)

notapipe @ June 27 2003, 15:51:46 UTC

FPOTUS = Former President Of The United States

Now I am very curious. What DOES it refer to? (could I at least have a hint so that I can waste copious amounts of time trying to figure it out)

(parent)

Anonymous @ June 27 2003, 16:07:21 UTC

Well, it's not a homage or anything. It's just that when you're making up 50+ names you have to start pulling them from places you've heard or they come out 'Sneeze Face'. If I were going for FPOTUS I'd go for Millard Filmore. He's been my favourite since I was about nine.

I just want to see if anyone gets it off the top of their head, man. It's not as cool if someone looked it up. Then how shall I ever know if anyone actually got it but me?

(parent)

darlulu @ June 27 2003, 19:40:36 UTC

It's probably just coincidental, but when I caught the name 'Franklin Pierce,' Hawkeye from MASH came to mind. ;)

(parent)

Anonymous @ June 27 2003, 19:55:36 UTC

Finally, my true love!!! *delighted!* It isn't really a homage seeing as he rarely goes by Benjamin Franklin Pierce, let alone Franklin Pierce, but you know how it is.

You really are the king of little known acronyms aren't you pipe? How on earth do you come up with this stuff?

Er, POTUS and SCOTUS are kinda common. Once you know them you can't escape them.

Assuming it's really a prophetic dream, the tumbling rocks aren't too difficult - after all, the whole Charms corridor caved in.

As for the fish - Sybill says, it's death. Okay, she always says that, but then...

(parent)

hepcatpixie @ June 27 2003, 13:39:36 UTC

My dream interpreter (whose accuracy I have doubted for some time, mind) says that rocks symbolize The barrier between difficulty and sanctuary. The difficulty could be the attack and the consequences of it... maybe.

Fish could symbolize responding through instinct. Without putting much strategy into our actions. Also, the acceptance of something known all along and not previously believed I guess.

Hmmm, that's what I got. I think I'll ponder it some more.

(parent)

xnera @ June 27 2003, 14:09:00 UTC

Also, the acceptance of something known all along and not previously believed I guess.

Yeah, my dream interpretation book says pretty much the same thing. I forget... do most of the NA folk believe Voldemort is back? Because an attack on the school would certain cause them to believe it, if they hadn't previously.

hepcatpixie @ June 27 2003, 14:30:56 UTC Re:

I know that there have been posts by certain people regarding Death-Eater activity rumours. As for what most people think, I'm not sure. There's definitely been suspicion though.

(parent)

notapipe @ June 27 2003, 16:00:42 UTC

Sinistra noted that Snape has been clutching his arm over a tatoo and Snape has encounted a not insubstantial amount of inquiry into it, I think people are probably on "deeply suspicious" to "pre-emptively certian".

(parent)

hepcatpixie @ June 27 2003, 17:18:13 UTC Re:

Right, I forgot about that. And Harry's hurting scar. Silly me.

(parent)

neveth @ June 27 2003, 13:45:56 UTC

Perhaps someone transfigured some of the castle stones(rocks) into fish(fish) thereby causing the collapse. And a somewhat literal interpretation of Parvati's dream.

(parent)

dragynville @ June 27 2003, 18:49:28 UTC

Maybe some/all of the attackers smelled of fish and it's not symbolic at all? Draco did say, "whereupon I was greeted by Black, who I suspect sniffed me when I walked past". And the tumbling rocks bit doesn't seem, or need, to be symbolic because there were tumbling rocks. Just a thought..

(parent)

ex_ankle @ June 27 2003, 19:01:17 UTC

Yeah, he did, but Sirius is a dog.

(parent)

dragynville @ June 27 2003, 19:15:22 UTC

But I don't recall anyone ever reporting he'd sniffed them before. Just seemed to stick out.

(parent)

theantimodel @ June 27 2003, 20:11:32 UTC

It would probably be too late at this point to check Draco for a smell since the attack was a week ago now. I'm more inclined to think that Sirius is just feeling extremely territorial over Harry right now and as such has reverted back to some of his baser instincts, such as smelling an enemy, which is probably how he is viewing Draco right now.

(parent)

dragynville @ June 27 2003, 22:29:38 UTC

Well, in that case I would say not terratorial behavior. If he had snarled, then I would think terratorial agression. With RL dogs, agressive sniffing is done at a distance to keep the sensitive nose and vulnerable throat out of biting range, while close-quarter sniffing is an almost friendly gesture like shaking hands. :\
