Current mood: listless
Current music:Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

Seeing as it's the beginning of December, everyone's already talking about Christmas, and somebody's playing Carols in the common room twenty-four Hours a day. At least, I think it's twenty-four hours a day - Remarkably, I don't spend twenty-four hours a day In there but every time I walked through yesterday, they were playing. O Holy Night and Hark, the Herald Angels caught my attention. They're so pretty, such pretty Songs. I also like What Child is This? That wasn't a question, I definitely like The song. I think if the carols play all the time from now on, though, we Gryffindors May just go mad by the 25th.

It's too far to go home just for the holidays And then come back, when we don't get very long. Also it's nice to have a proper Christmas with candy canes and wrapped presents and all of that Stuff at school here, where everyone else celebrates like that, as it's a bit different at home. This will be our last Hogwarts Christmas as well, so I've already decided To stay here at school. Being In Hogsmeade should be a lot of fun shortly, and I'm already intending to buy some of those seasonal Every-Flavour Canes. Five different flavours on one candy Might certainly be worth a shot, and at least if one End is snot then the other might be Raspberry.

The snow is so wonderful. I find myself Ultimately staring out the window and Lamenting on not being able to have snowball fights instead of working away. School shouldn't really be Enjoyable, though. Still, it's a good thing to See I haven't completely grown up, yet.

I like the carols, myself, especially We Three Kings. Keeps things from being too somber, I suppose. Though they are anyway.

Sombre, Seamus? I think things are Fairly pleasant, myself. Hm.

Well, let's see. There's the NEWTs that I have to pass in the spring or all my hard work over the past two years will have meant exactly nothing, and my Herbology grade is nothing to write home about. Never mind Potions, where I can't even get a sense of how I am doing, as Snape never seems to say anything at all, though Lupin said once that he only thinks about the bad students so perhaps it is a good sign.

Speaking of Lupin, he's gone off and got himself into trouble which is just peachy, really. Harry's upset, I'm upset, it's horrible and stressful and just generally not on.

Oh, and then my splendid friend from the summer decides to get himself a new playmate, that's nice to hear. Not that we were serious, but still, it's--well, it's surprising to say the least.

Oh, and my so-called best friend has spent the entire time since we broke up hanging around with a bloke who brings out the exact worst aspects of his personality, such that I can barely stand to be around him and I wonder what ever happened to that friendship we were trying to keep?

I also have other friends that are fine as far as they go, really splendid fellows, but they have their hands full with a mutual friend who is a bit stressed at the moment. Not to mention that they aren't exactly the ones I'd go to for comfort, you know?

So all in all I'm feeling a bit discarded, and I'm just trying to stay out of everyone's way and get my work done. I'm not exactly sure what you are seeing here that is pleasant in any way. But if you do, let me know. I'll be in the library.

Oh, Seamus. The Library's stuffy and smells of books and if you don't come try and get some study done with me while also trying not to get Jingle Bells stuck in your head this evening in front Of the fireplace then I may just come down and drag you all the way back up to the tower. You Should never feel discarded. Especially at This time of year.

Are you sure? I'm a bit gloomy. Don't want to bring the common room down or what have you.

Anyway, you know, the sleigh in Jingle Bells gets "upsot".

Sure, but doesn't he get the girl anyway?

Believe me, you can't bring our common room Down ever, Except for maybe After a Quidditch loss, when Three quarters of the House are in the depths of despair.

You! Common room! Now! Marching orders!

Okay, I'm coming! But I really do have work to do. And don't read anything for me. I don't want to know my future. I can't imagine it's all that rosy.

See you shortly. And, thanks.

Obviously you've not paid much attention to me In the past (recent, mind You) when I said I wanted nothing more To do with Divination, really.

Sure, I've got work too. Who knows, we might even be Able to help each other, if we can hear each other speak Over Feliz Navidad.

seamus_f @ 2003-12-01 11:43 am UTC

Sorry about that.

And yes, that would be brilliant, and I bloody hate Feliz Navidad, because it only seems to have one line sung over and over.

Someone fiddled with the Wireless in the Ravenclaw common room so that it's been playing "Do You Hear What I Hear", only for about forty eight hours now. I now find it's working itself into my casual conversations, as I turn to Daphne Greengrass and say things like, "Do you hear what I hear?"

divineparvati @ 2003-12-01 09:43 am UTC

Oh no! Haha! I'm Starting to wonder where I Can find some chestnuts to roast On the open fire while I'm kicking back and doing Revision this Evening.

Well, my family is Hindu, so. It doesn't mean I can't like the festives of Christmas. Will you be going home?

(parent)
turpinol @ 2003-12-01 10:14 am UTC

My family never much got into celebrating Hannukah, either, so festive holidays are pretty new to me. I'll probably stay at Hogwarts, if only because I should be here for the younger students who aren't going home.
