awwwwwww
Mood: sympathetic

Neville made me wibble.

But the image of Snape, asleep, made me cry.

I have fallen in love with Neville! He hates Snape, but cleaned up anyway, and was so cute and GUH

Neville says, I didn't go into your office, of course, although I swept up all the paper cranes that had leaked outside the door. He kept them. That's just heartbreaking.

I think Neville's may be the single best NA post in a long, long time, trumping the enraged venom of potterstinks despite its consistently high level. This post is understated, indirect, and yet so precise in executing its task.

*applauds Neville's player*

Why is Snape asleep.. with his head on a cauldron? I find that weird.

shusu @ May 10 2003, 11:31:52 UTC

Because I don't think he's slept since they discovered Lupin was *still* a woman after 24 hours.

Neville is adorable. I love his references to Snape the whole way through, because for someone who's kinda scared of the guy (correct me if I'm wrong there, I'm newish to NA and haven't quite caught up yet ^-^;;), he's remarkably sensitive and sweet about him.

Also - "He snores kind of funny" <33333! Don't you just want to take him home? *huggles Nev*

There's one post at NA, and one in Neville's lj, and they're about essentially the same thing, but look how differently they're written! In the one on NA, he seems really intimidated by sleeping!Snape, but the post on his lj is a lot less nervous =^^=;;

Oh! Thanks for pointing that out. I'd only seen the NA post.

Neville's post on his lj is more disturbing in the questions it raises about Snape: The smell stuffed my nose up and made my eyes water and gave me a terrible headache. I couldn't understand how he could have fallen asleep in the middle of such an awful smell. He must have been really tired. Now I wonder if Snape is okay. Could the noxious ingredients mixing together have caused Snape to lose consciousness? I had assumed simply that Snape had been so exhausted by his work to restore Lupin's masculinity and by his repressed emotional turmoil over the wedding that he'd just dropped. But now it seems there might be more to it. Am on pins and needles with anticipation.

This really was a lovely post. It was a bit odd to have almost the same thing appear in his own journal, but I suppose the slight differences gives one a few clues about Neville. And boy, do I need clues. There's been such a lack of Neville, and now he pops up, and the characterization is one I have to get used to.

More small Neville bits here, here, and also, sort of overlooked in the Draco hullabaloo, here and here. (And eep, I apologize if these were already discussed somewhere. I've been way behind NA-wise, and am only now catching up.) What I have to get used to includes Neville being so logical and sensible and even scolding, especially where trying to explain to Lavender why Remus shouldn't be a woman. But I suppose this is like canon, where, when not being accident-prone, Neville comes up with the surprisingly clear points. I do like how he's adamantly demanding to know what exactly Lavender is up to in the bathroom. He really does seem to fancy her, so perhaps it can be him that could give her the honest straight-from-the-heart talking-to she needs. Where Hermione and Remus were not listened to, maybe he can answer her petulant question of, "I just want to look good for the wedding, why is that wrong??"

I just wonder if Snape's going to wake up in time for the wedding.

Or if he'd even want to be there in the first place.

Sleeping through it would be a convenient answer to that.

going over this all and taking it in, my heart breaks for Snape.. he's always getting the short end, and is always genuinely alone.. the one prank that he tries to commit backfires horribly and sends Black, whom he obviously cares about as a friend, after him in a furious state. Snape even allows him to cast spells on him! god, i love snape.. he kept the cranes!! am I the only one completely awwinng at this? how sentimental.. makes me want to give him a huge hug..~

the 2 people whom he has drunken times and banter and sex with have just gotten married.. poor snape.. they're going to live happily ever after in love, and one again, snape is on the outside..
he'll always care about both of them.. this has got to hurt him somehow
