Hahahaha. Well, you're not supposed to like him (I myself don't like him much but he's wonderfully fun to play) so I guess I'm doing something right, hm?

*evil grin*

Why do I think Lucius' reply is more than a "yo mama?" -- let's mess up little Harry's mind with some L/H subtext, echoes of Lucius' sexual power over Sirius and an implicit dig at JH/PS too. Which I guess shows more respect for Harry as an adversary than simply patronising and scolding him, as Lucius has done in the past. Gotta love the eeeeeevil!

(parent)

shusu @ November 28 2003, 13:18:34 UTC eeeeeevil

Oh methinks it's all that *and* patronizing. Like, he knows and Harry knows, but ahahaha, it's just like HPOP's Ministry scene, I'm talking to the Minister and although you heard my name back there, you can't do a thing about it.

Gah!!! Snape replied to Lupin to and used his 'suspicious' icon.

(parent)

oconel @ November 28 2003, 12:39:35 UTC

Love it!!!

By the way, have you seen Snape's comment? He's worried. But why does he think it's a joke?

He's really scared of being hurt.

black_dog @ November 28 2003, 13:12:43 UTC

It's interesting that Draco was suspicious, too, about a super-sekrit mission being plastered all over Lupin's journal. How about a nice paranoid NrAged theory, where the mission is a fake, just intended to draw out Narcissa's real loyalties, maybe, or to expose some fault lines in the DEs?

Then we would all have wibbled in vain! :OOO

cannot. take it.

....though that would be superkewl.

Then we would all have wibbled in vain!

True, but I would rather wibble in vain than wibble as I fell into the abyss.

I'm leaning towards it being plan of Voldie's to see where Snape's loyalty lies . 'Cause if he really didn't *know* about Lupin's capture until he read about it... Or he could of known which would mean that the Order knew and sent Lupin anyway to maintain Snape's cover. I'm not really all that thrilled with either prospect.

Oh, wibble.

steph_hime @ November 28 2003, 13:45:17 UTC

With his 'suspicious' icon too *nods*

(parent)

luna_lg @ November 28 2003, 13:50:38 UTC

I doubt he really thinks it's a joke. He's only saying that in a feeble attempt to comfort himself.

...Of course, if I was Harry Potter--or Snape, or Sirius--I WILL have words with Dumbledore about putting Lupin in such a scenario in the first place.

blankcanvas @ November 28 2003, 15:40:47 UTC

What do you think Draco thinks of that?

(parent)

shusu @ November 28 2003, 18:07:05 UTC

Draco already snarked at his mother... he can't afford anything more overt, nor is he inclined to, as his previous entry's "private is private" line stated.

I would be interested to know if Harry vented to Draco about any of this. Or if it's just Understood that they don't talk about the parentals.

I wonder. He's defied Lucius over Harry before -- most notoriously by revealing the incriminating contents of the Screened Post on Veritaserum Night. I don't think PS finds it easy to do, but woe to Lucius if he forces the issue. I wonder if Lucius' decision to respond to Harry with a sexual tease was also a warning shot to Draco, not to take Harry's side -- the sexual stuff is the one issue PS doesn't seem to be able to handle with his father.

I would love to know how freely JH and PS can talk about Lucius. I suspect, based on things JH has said about how reluctant PS is to discuss his personal problems directly, that it's something they are still very cautious about, together. I think we all keep wishing for the decisive moment where Draco has to choose sides and chooses Harry against his father. Having Remus in the DE's clutches might finally create such a moment, but it's a lot to hope for.

Would you happen to know when roughly that was, or would you (or anyone!) have a link or something? I am curious as to what went down.

Also, I guess it is difficult to gague what PS is really thinking, he seems fairly loyal to his father... somewhat cowed, from the bits I've seen. If he only had his mother to defy, I think we'd have a good chance at seeing PS make that kind of choice. Ah well, here's hoping!

Here it is. The background is that Fred and George have dumped Veritaserum into the punch at Remus and Sirius' wedding reception, leaving all sorts of people vulnerable to all sorts of revealing conversations, on several threads (it's definitely worth browsing the calendar for the other threads, too). On this particular thread, Draco has decided to ask several people some questions that cast an interesting light on Draco's own obsessions -- and one of the people he questions is his father.

If you scroll about halfway down, Draco asks Lucius why James and Lily Potter died, although that wasn't one of his original questions to Lucius. Lucius has to reply honestly, and Draco then screens the reply to keep it secret. Harry, obviously, speaks up; he gets into it with Lucius and asks what Lucius said. Draco at one point surreptitiously emails Harry the text of the screened post, provoking a tense exchange between Draco and his father. Remember, this was not long after the "outing," and before Harry and Draco had reconciled, so it's a very interesting gesture on Draco's part.
