RPing with Ron and Remus always made me laugh.

There was one RP session with Draco that made me wibble a lot, and some of those for OMG!!! too.

I don't think I could pick one favourite though!

AHAHA Er. Yes, that was an attempt to get the first post, but anyway! \:D/

I just wanted to say how much I loved your Harry. Just. So MUCH LOVE. I especially loved his close friendship with Remus, too. It may sound obvious or silly, but did you and Remus's player plan the closeness of that relationship (which seemed to be more than that of Harry with Sirius) or did it just pan out that way? And do you and the other players still keep in touch outside of N_A related activities?

Seriously. SO MUCH LOVE. ♥ <333

(parent)

a_player @ September 27 2004, 23:16:53 UTC

\:D/

Thank you! <3 I think it just panned out that way. At least, we didn't sit down and say, Let's do this! It came naturally.

We do!

(parent)

evieangelique @ September 27 2004, 23:22:31 UTC

:-?

It turned out wonderfully, in any case! Along that line, how did you prepare to roleplay the posts? Did you just comment on them as they came or did you and the other players IM each other beforehand to clarify what each of the characters' reactions to certain comments would be? I've found the former is good for off-the-cuff reactions but sometimes there's confusion as to what was meant in some of the comments.

<3333

(parent)

a_player @ September 27 2004, 23:33:00 UTC

I don't think we ever did the latter. We just commented like people do to journals: you don't IM your friends to say what you're going to say and why. Sometimes we would IM to say, Er, what are you talking about?, but I don't think we ever IMed to say what we were about to post.

HARRY MY LOVE

will you marry me (since nobody has asked yet, I will beat the crowd)?

was there anything in nocturne alley that you really wanted to do but didn't get the chance to?

do you play in / particularly like any other rpgs?

out of all the drawings and images posted throughout the game, what one was your favourite?

(parent)

a_player @ September 27 2004, 23:20:35 UTC

I would, but I have nothing to wear!

The thing I really wanted to do was to get Draco to write one of Harry's entries. And I did! It looked like I would not get to for months, though, so I was happy that we got to do that.

I'm not in any other RPGs. I've never followed any. I don't think I have the attention span.

The one Draco did of Harry and Ron, with the tomato ears and the Spider of Doom. Harry really liked that Draco took the trouble to get green ink for his eyes, so it's my favourite. I liked Sinistra, too, though!

danibennett @ September 27 2004, 23:18:18 UTC

I feel intensely horrible because I have no burning questions to ask you or anything.

Can I just thank you for being? Honestly, Harry was so beautifully awkward and real. Sometimes he was annoyingly stubborn, and sometimes he was heartbreaking but he was always Harry and...okay.

He was so patient with Draco, trying to figure out when Draco was actually upset and when he just wanted to be coaxed into things. I loved all your interactions with lupercus, because they were so hilarious and snarky, but you knew that underneath there was a very deep love. It was very different from the interactions with Sirius, because it almost felt like Harry was sure Sirius didn't love him as much as he loved Sirius, and so he talked to Remus about him? I don't know. Sirius and Harry didn't have as many lengthy discussions, but the love was still very clearly there.

I have to clear off before I start crying again and short out my laptop. You were brilliant. Brilliant and real, and clearly enough to make me tear up, long after the fact.

I hope someday you can be what you've always wanted. Not the hero of the wizarding world, but Just Harry.

♥♥♥

Thank you.

(parent)

a_player @ September 27 2004, 23:23:02 UTC

Goodness! Thank you!

I do not think I would much like to be Just Harry, though. It would be pretty confusing.

Harry was worried for a long while that he bugged Sirius. It was a relationship that he needed a lot of reassurance from.

I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uh. Okay, will stop now.

1) In a Millicent Q&A thing ages ago, Millicent informed us that Harry could make Draco blush.

Details.

2) How did you discover NA? Were you one of it's first players?

3) Did you talk to EVERYONE in the game? Was there a player you had never spoken to before? I heard from Ron's player that this was possible and I was just wondering!:)

4) How did the Gladrags "poem" brilliance come about?

5) Favorite in-game moment? Favorite out-game moment? Ever think N_A would be this big?

I have so many more but can't remember now!But... <3<3!!

(parent)

a_player @ September 27 2004, 23:29:19 UTC Re: you are the cuteeeest, loveliest harry=)

I think Draco's player already answered that one.

I wasn't in NA when it was on deadjournal. That is where I found it, though, from some of the players.

I think there were a few players I only spoke to on the list. Not all of the characters interacted, so there wasn't much reason for some of us to IM. We usually had groupchats, though, and talked there.

I don't know! I just thought it would be pretty funny if Harry had a secret talent for rhyming that was sort of common knowledge. I don't remember why I started that in the first place.

I couldn't pick just one!

I don't think any of us realised that RPGs were something that people watched, so the "Ever think N_A would be this big?" question stumps me. I guess, no, because I didn't know people watched these things.

2.How did you feel about the outing? Particularly in how it would be handled and reacted to by all?

(parent)

a_player @ September 27 2004, 23:55:33 UTC

Why did Ron write letters to show his support to the [er ... insert the country I used here] foreign Minister of Magic? Because Ron's player used to write letters of support to a world leader from a country not their own!

I felt crushed during it, but I thought it was handled beautifully and it was a good thing to do. I was more worried about how Harry would react to it than how anyone else would.

(parent)

a_player @ September 28 2004, 00:16:38 UTC Re: I have a question! Huzzah!

Hi Harry's player!

I have one loooooong-burning question: What did you mean by this? Was there a story about Harry's landlady that never made it to the journals? What DID Harry do when he took off that summer?

Since Harry was not a fan of the journals, are there any things that you wish you'd been able to tell, but couldn't do because of the OOCness of it?

For the NA-tshirts, do you have a favorite quote of Harry's? Of any of the other characters?

I miss you all terribly, and I'm crying now, because this is so horribly final.

Thank you. For everything. I love you all more than I can say.

Oh, my god. HAHAHA. KLJKGLFJGFLGJF. I am so sorry. Yes, there was, and she was meant to be called Nancy-- I am such an ass.

Harry spent the summer renting a flat and travelling around by himself.

It was frustrating being Harry. It seemed like I was incapable because I couldn't make him write. At the same time, it was important to me that his journal retained realism and he never wrote anything that he wouldn't. So! I didn't wish I could tell anything that he wouldn't, if that isn't an unclear answer.

Do not cry! *hands you a tissue*

How was Harry able to look past Draco's loyalty to Lucius and have a relationship with him? He quit talking to Sirius because Sirius was doing whatever Sirius was doing with Lucius.... I never quite figured out how he could trust Draco.

You were fabulous--Harry seemed like a very real teenage boy. I loved his and Ron's comments. And the Chudley Cannons icons!

Lucius is Draco's father, but Harry didn't make the mistake of thinking that Draco was exactly like Lucius. He couldn't pretend to understand how the Malfoy family worked, but he respected Draco's relationship with his father and his right to have one. He would never expect Draco to abandon his father because family is more important than a relationship. Which, is exactly why he was so angry with Sirius.

Thank you! <3

Hi, Harry's Player!

I found nocturne_alley not too long before the end, but I still must say that I absolutely loved the way you portrayed Harry. So canon. I loved the game immensely, and I was so saddened when it ended. I'd just started getting caught up, and then it was over!

Gushing aside, I do have some questions.

When did Harry realize that he loved Draco? And how did he react to his feelings at first, given that they were about Draco Malfoy? So many things seemed to happen behind the scene, that it's such a challenge to piece everything together. But that's definitely fun to do!

I really enjoyed it when Harry and Draco were talking in old posts. Was that their way of talking to each other without letting all the other people at school know about it?

What do you think about Harry and Draco? Do you think they have staying power?

I long to know what happened between Harry and Draco after the game ended. Lucius and Remus had just died, and they were both so sad. Do you think they comforted each other? How do you see their relationship progressing?

Eep. I've got to run and I can't think of any more questions at the moment. I'll give it a think and bug you again if something else comes to mind.

Again, I adored your Harry, and Harry's love for Draco. Can you tell I'm a H/D shipper? ;)

(parent)

a_player @ September 28 2004, 02:33:23 UTC

He didn't realise he LOVED him for a long time. He became kinda, sorta, maybe interested in him when he realised that Draco was a person. The shock alone! That was really early in the game. He recognised it as attraction when they were in Hogsmeade hiding under a table together during a brawl, and Draco breathed on him-- which sounds very silly as I'm writing it!

You'd be better off asking Draco's player that question. Draco was the one who commented on old posts. But! I do know one thing: that the first time he did it was because he was just reading them, not out of subterfuge.

Staying power for some time, yes. I wish I could say forever! But I agree that it's unlikely.

Harry spent the summer with Sirius, and Draco spent his with Millicent and Narcissa, so, no, they didn't comfort each other. I would like to think their relationship would become healthier.

Thank you!

_kissyfish @ September 28 2004, 02:49:18 UTC What on earth is wrong with LJ.

You played a very good Harry. You didn't make him extra angsty or too stoic or indifferent, rather, one could actually believe that it was really Harry sitting at the other end of the computer. The thread that comes to mind is (WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE DOCUMENT CONTAINS NO DATA, I AM TRYING TO REFERENCE SOMETHING, HERE, LIVEJOURNAL. *ahem*) this one.
Young, confused, uncomfortable with certain things, and through it all, he's just Harry. ...it's [not] really, you know, great or anything, it's just me.

I particularly liked the way you typed out Harry's posts and comments as if they were coming straight out of his head onto the screen, like he was just responding without really trying to edit anything as he went along. Unrehearsed-looking and casual, I suppose is what I'm trying to say it felt like, although I bet you put a lot of effort into it all. It made him seem even more "just Harry" ish, which was terribly important because you had to go off of what JKR had written, and didn't have the opportunity to be as liberal as some of the other characters did. You did a lovely job, though; your portrayal of Harry gave a mind and soul to the Harry that we all read about in the books. :)

In Summary:
-You play a very good teenage boy.
-I was rather fond of your writing style as well (I love the way you, Draco's player, and Millicent's writer write).
-You make me smile.
-Would you care for a cookie or alternate form of dessert snack?

Thank you! Here is a secret: sometimes, Harry edited his comments before he posted them. Sometimes, he tried to look casual.

Ok, on the 'getting to know you' thing ('your most cherished item' thing) done at the end of the school year: what was the very scribbled out part on the survey Harry filled out? It probably isn't that integral to the story, but it's been killing me to know. So spill!

(parent)

a_player @ September 28 2004, 15:57:38 UTC

I am sorry! It wasn't important at all. He wrote Hufflepuff, and then crossed it out, and wrote loyal, watchful, and then crossed it out a second time. That's why it looked so scribbled.

Was Sirius' philandering with Lucius something that Harry needed to forgive, or was Harry the type to just get mad and then get over it? Does that make sense? I mean, sometimes someone can really piss you off, but it's nothing so horrible that you'd need to forgive them - you just get over it. Did Harry do a lot of forgiving, or did he just...get over it?

Did Harry and Draco ever have a heart-to-heart (for lack of a better phrase) about the outing?

Do you see Harry and Sirius' relationship growing stronger after the death of Remus, or do you think it put further strain on their tentative bond? Mutual grief can either bring people closer together, or push them further apart, and while things were better for Sirius and Remus in the end, it seemed that Harry's interactions with Sirius were never quite what they were prior to the Lucius revelation.

Thanks for the amazing ride - these journals, and Harry's in particular, is a huge part of my fandom memories.

(parent)

a_player @ September 28 2004, 15:39:21 UTC

Definitely something he needed to forgive. He wouldn't have gotten over it if he and Sirius never talked about it.

A heart-to-heart may be too generous. They spoke of it, briefly and tentatively, and it went something like this:

Harry said, something something something, and you made that post.
Draco said, Nothing.
Draco said, My mother sent you biscuits.
Harry said, Oh.

I see (hope!) their relationship will grow stronger.

Thank you!

OMG! I love you! :D (redundant I know, but I had to say it) <3!<3!<3!<3! I wish I could give Harry a hug but he's not real so you get it instead. *hug* You were brilliant! Thank you for all the times you made me laugh and cry through Harry. He was truly a beautiful character. And so real . I miss him.

So, yeah, I best move on to the questions before I start crying.

-Why did Harry love Draco? Or maybe a better question is what did he love about Draco? I know sometimes you can't choose who you fall inlove with but what exactly drew Harry to Draco aside from physical attraction?

-Did Harry ever wish that he and Draco could act like more of a "normal" couple? By that I mean being more open and romantic.

-How did Harry deal with the fact that Draco technically had a girlfriend? Draco's player said that Harry was jealous of Pansy, understandably so, and that they had an argument about it. What did Draco say to Harry that finally appeased him?

-Why was he so jealous of Seamus?

-What's the thing you miss most about playing Harry?

-The summer after the voldemort/fish attack why didn't Harry keep in better touch with Draco? And did he ever feel like giving up on their relationship? Did Harry ever think that he could do better than Draco?

-What's Harry's favorite memory of Hogwarts?

-How did Ron find out about the H/D?

-Was Harry's first sexual experience with Draco?

-I know both you and Draco's player don't see the relationship lasting forever, but does Harry wish it would, or does he think they will eventually break-up?

-Do you think Harry will continue to be as close to Ron and Hermione now that Hogwarts is over?

Sorry that most of the questions are H/D related but that was the unclearest part of the game. Thanks again for taking the time to do this!

~Ani

!! Thank you! <3! <3! <3! <3!

Harry loved Draco for some little things and some big things. Like, if they were walking in a corridor at the same time, Draco would stomp ten steps ahead so he would be walking in front of Harry instead of behind. That's a good summary of Draco. Harry thought it was really, really funny.

No, that would have weirded him out.

Draco made Harry understand that he wasn't romantically entwined with Pansy in a literal sense. Harry thought Pansy knew about them, though, and she would leave him these comments that he just thought were crude and mean.

Because Seamus knew what Draco smelled like. Because Seamus could talk to Draco about his house in Cannes and Harry couldn't. Because Seamus liked to buy things, too, but Harry didn't care about stuff like that.

Joking that Harry and Hermione were having secret affairs!

Harry-- if I can be harshly honest, he had more important things to worry about than Draco that summer. He blamed himself for the Hufflepuffs who died, and Soblessa. Dumbledore wouldn't let him go home! Harry spent a lot of time sleeping that summer, or out with Remus.

Winning the Quidditch cup. Or meeting Ron and Hermione. Or getting on the Quidditch team.

Ron found out that Harry was interested in Draco when Draco told everyone. Harry and Ron had a long talk about it that night. And! Ahahaha. I just asked Ron's player, who said, "Ron assumed they were married after the outting. He was all, Harry has a date ;))"

Yeah, it was.

Harry doesn't think he'll spend the rest of his life with Malfoy. But he'd like to spend as much time as possible.

I think so! You might want to ask Ron and Hermione's players, too. They might have different plans!

Do you know, I loved your Harry so much that I decided to play Harry in an RPG somewhere. I loved playing Harry in that RPG so much that I decided to read the books and actually concentrate on Harry (which until then I had always been a terribly fanatic Ron person), and I finally came to the conclusion that Harry was a magnificent character and that there was so much more to him than met the eye.

I loved how you played him because it made me figure that out, and now the books themselves have whole new depth for me.

My favorite thing about Harry was his remarkably subtle sense of humor. It was so amazingly clever that I could not forget it.

So, yes! You gave me so much more to love about the books.

Bravo, and thank you! I make a toast for you and just_harry in my heart.

::cuddles ickle adorable Harry::

So. We know that Harry really loved Remus, and that he, well, didn't particularly like Snape. You've said (I believe!) that he wanted Remus and Sirius to be together, but that he was upset at Sirius's actions. So - how did he feel when Remus and Severus were together? Did he understand by analogy with Draco that someone superficially unlikeable could still be attractive? Did he resent Remus doing it? Etc.

Also. Harry. Seamus. Any attraction, ever? (We know about the jealousy thing from Draco's Q&A, but if you have anything more to add to that, feel free!)

Oh, and a serious question. How did Harry feel about Draco's relationship with his father, honestly? Of course he might have understood it, but was he ever angry at Draco for how he honored his father?

(parent)

a_player @ September 28 2004, 15:44:34 UTC

Harry wasn't very happy about Remus and Snape. He was mad at Remus for a bit, but he didn't say much about it-- I think he was a little disappointed that Remus and Sirius weren't working out. He never compared Draco to Snape, though. That would just be too gross!

No, Harry was never attracted to Seamus.

No, he got angry at Lucius. He didn't blame Draco for what his father was like or loving him. Draco loved Lucius for, er, eighteen years. He had barely tolerated Harry for one! It would be kinda presumptuous to think he had earned the right to interfere in Draco's family life. They both kept their families out of things. Draco didn't complain about Sirius or Remus, either-- if he had, Harry would have been very mad, so he saw Lucius the same way.

Wah, I'm getting sniffly. Because we all knew the Harry's player Q&A would be the highlight of the Q&A and now it's here and I have nothing NA-related to look forward to anymore.

I still can't believe it's really over.

As all my questions suddenly flew out of my head, can you just tell me stuff about Harry? Likes, dislikes, quirkes, opinions, thoughts about the future... general things that we never really found out about.

Thank you, just... thanks.

Er ... I don't have much to tell you that you don't know. Harry likes Quidditch, chocolate, Sirius' motorbike, DADA, Hogwarts, Quidditch, flying, the Cannons. He only likes music if someone else shows it to him. He doesn't know anything about music, so if you play something for him, he will just love it no matter what.
