Just some random wonderings courtesy of Neville
Mood: curious

I was thinking about this the other day, and was reminded of it by way of Neville's most recent post..and I was wondering what all of your thoughts were on the subject of Wizards and Muggles and the concept of half-bloods...

Knowing that Wizards try to keep their world a secret as much as possible, I wonder what kind of steps are involved, or laws are broken, etc, when say, a Wizard (like seamus's mother or Neville, perhaps) falls for a muggle. Harry's family knows he's a wizard while none of them are...countless others have had half and half parantage..I am hoping that perhaps maybe it will be discussed further in later books, or perhaps its something that NA might conquer on their own, seeing how some things are headed...what do you all think?

Maybe the Muggle and the wizard/witch have to go through a series of tests to prove that it's true love, or else the first time they kiss Harvey the Muggle will turn into a frog?

Sorry, scary Sabrina flashback. This is an interesting question, because the parents of Muggle children who get a Hogwarts letter must also be admitted to the secret world -- all things considered, there must be quite a large number of Muggles in the know. I suppose it's too totalitarian for the Ministry (or a similar body) to insist that a non-magic spouse be approved for admittance and sworn to secrecy; I'd say that it's the right of a witch or wizard to reveal to whom they choose. This wouldn't be a choice taken lightly, so I guess it really might end up closer to the 'must first prove your love' scenario, in that you've got to be really sure that this person is worthy of being told.

On a related note, it must be so hard for Muggle parents of magical children to be shut out of a whole other world that their child belongs to. It's quite sad, really.

Perhaps it's just a plot hole she never got around to patching up. It wouldn't be the only one.

Er..sorry to post so long after, but I've thought about this before. It seems like this is the sort of things Memory Charms are made for. Just a thought.
