Woot!
Mood: amused

Our dear Potions Master is in Oslo.

So now we have Everything's Not Lo

Everything's not lost, perhaps?

Or is it Love? *grins*

Edit:Here is a link to the Coldplay Lyrics for "Everything's Not Lost".

Egads! Severus listening to Coldplay, the NA world is truly gone mad. Get me off this crazy thing!

I think it's rather appropriate that as we are all wibbling our hearts out, Snape is determinedly spelling "Everything's Not Lost." If that really is what he's spelling. And if he was actually the reassuring type who thinks that far in advance. :>

Yes, it seems like "Everything's Not Lost." A message from Dumbledore, then, since he's the one (I think) choosing the places that Severus is visiting?

Ah, Dumbledore! It's lovely to think of that all-too-scarce man sending a public message through destinations. And it's his sort of enigmatic uplifiting phrase, too.

I'm actually rather curious about Dumbledore and his opinions about the latest angsting, as earlier I was re-reading the wedding guestbook (lovely memories, if bittersweet in light of current events), and wondered what that great wise man would say now, he who had said the to the happy couple, "You have weathered the worst with more grace and dignity than imaginable, and you only deserve the best from here on." :/

I took advantage of the link to re-read the guest-book.

That seems like such a long time ago with all the drama/angst that has been going on.

Everyone was so full of hope then.

Everything is so different now.

I'm selfishly hoping that he's spelling out "EVERYTHINGS NOT LOVE." I would like to see him travel to Venice and write about how much he hates boats and all the gondoliers are driving him crazy. ^_^

This would leave the "E" open for one last stop in England before returning to Scotland and the start of term.

However, I know that the chances of that are very slim. It is most likely "EVERYTHINGS NOT LOST."

But wouldn't it be funny if it was "EVERYTHINGS NOT LOVE"? It would be like he's sending a message to all us wibbling fan-girls telling us to pull our heads out of the clouds and pay attention to what is going on before we fall flat on our faces.

And we probably need that. =D

WH Auden's 'Alone'

Today's poem is the first one on the page. The poem is bitter-sweet; much like the tone around here lately.

The last line is...........hopeful?

Perhaps?

The choice of poem is interesting in light of this.

When I read Perhaps, in fact, we are never alone, I had a flash-back that very conversation.

Maybe it is for Lupin, considering what has happened in the past few days and Snape hasn't been present to talk Remus through his angst.

::nods and agrees::

I noticed, too, that he gives a reason why he hasn't responded to other posts (having to go out immediately). It's as though he's trying to reassure Remus while keeping even further of a distance, given the accusations about them.

Why that particular line, though? My three thoughts are that it's one of the more recognizable lines of the poem (at least, I remembered it somewhat), that it could seem to just describe Oslo (waterfall, fire, stone) - and that Snape is comparing Sirius to those things, burning-bright and thoughtlessly cruel.

Interesting topic previous stanza:

Narcissus disbelieves in the unknown;
He cannot join his image in the lake
So long as he assumes he is alone.

(Incidentally, there are new comments to Narcissa's post to Draco. He replies to MB.)

As for why that particular line, with the rest:

The child, the waterfall, the fire, the stone,
Are always up to mischief, though, and take
The universe for granted as their own.

I assumed he was referring to Harry, either to his recent disappearance - assuming it was voluntary - or to his treatment of Lupin in days prior.

I hadn't thought about the comparison, but you may have a point; he may be referring to Sirius, since Auden says they are always up to mischief, taking the universe (and love) for granted.

I'm torn between wanting the comfort factor of "EVERYTHING'S NOT LOST" and between desiring the snark factor of "EVERYTHING'S NOT LOVE." Woe/wibble.

On the other hand, it'd be hilarious to have it seemingly go one way or another, only to, for the last destination, have the itinerary spell a non-existent word. Something like "EVERYTHING'S NOT LOVX."
